Animation stepping

AnimationFrameStep holds the visible particle pose for a chosen number of frames measured against a 60 Hz reference. It is an integer with a hard range of 1–12.

Value Presentation
1 Smooth updates
2 30 pose updates per second
3 20 pose updates per second
6 10 pose updates per second
12 5 pose updates per second

This is a stylized stepped animation effect, not a request to lower your game’s frame rate. Overall lifetime and cleanup continue normally. A game rendering below the target update rate cannot display every pose.

Solar Branch Star defaults to 3. All other shipped systems default to 1. The Fine, Chunky, and Bold presets use 1, 3, and 6 respectively.

Newer analytic effects quantize their visual animation time. Older simulated effects retain physics simulation and hold their rendered position, scale, and color; particle death still occurs on time. Do not expect stepping to extend a flash that has already expired.

To compare, leave size and seed unchanged, change only AnimationFrameStep, and restart. Documentation clips run at 60 FPS and show all four demo presets; those presets also change other supported parameters.
